Doing a New Thing

We find ourselves at an incredible turning point for the Body of Christ. God is doing a new thing and this new thing is, and must be different from the things of the past. For a number of years prophetic voices have declared, “God is doing a new thing.” While this is a true statement, it’s time to discover God’s new thing, not our new thing.

Discovering the New Thing

There is much more to the Isaiah 43 passage than just verse 19 which says, “See, I am doing a new thing.”

Digging a little deeper we discover two keys for moving forward into the new thing of God. First and foremost, we must understand it’s “already begun” and we need to “see it” or as another translation says, “perceive it.” The sad thing is many don’t see the new thing, which is why God asks the question, “Do you not see/perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19)

The second key is found in Isaiah 43:18. “But forget all that… it is nothing to what I am going to do.” What is He asking us to forget? When you take a look at Isaiah 43:1-17 we discover a list of not only God’s protection, but some of His mighty miracles and incredible promises. However, to move into the new and perceive what He is doing, we must let go of the past.

Over the past few years God has been stirring one main element of His new for this day. In early 2021 I sensed the Lord saying the following…

Then Both are Preserved

April 7, 2021

Matthew 9:17 (NLT): “And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved.”

I heard yesterday that more young people are now getting COVID-19. This morning I pondered “why” and sensed the Spirit saying…

“Do not think this is an attack of the enemy, for it is yet another occasion for Me to get the attention of believers today. Remember the first wave effected those who were aging in your midst as I called My people to step back and ‘pause’ in the midst of the chaos and re-connect with Me. Some have listened, while others have not.”

“Now I am seeking to grab the attention of the next generation. For as the next generation ‘pauses’ My plan is to have them connect with those leaders I am now raising up, so they can be trained and established in Me. Then those in the next generation who listen and hear My voice will in turn receive the mantles I have in store for them.”

On a personal note, this means those who are about to receive mantles this year from the leaders who have led us this far, must be prepared to hear similar words Joshua heard before entering the Promised Land… “Moses is dead”… now lead the people.

Mentors, friends and father figures are passing away before our very eyes… Lord give us strength to move forward as you prepare to say to me, and others in my generation:

“Moses is dead… now move forward and encourage, train, equip, and build up those from the next generation that I will bring to you.”

As we move into the ‘new thing’, whatever that will look like in it’s fullness, the old wineskins, current seasoned leaders, must work together with the new wineskins, the next generation of leaders, so “both are preserved” and mantles are passed well.

Double Portion Anointing

If we can get this right I believe the Lord will release an Elijah anointing on the current leaders. This in turn will allow Him to release an Elisha anointing. What does that mean? We will see the body of Christ move in more power and anointing as the next generation will receive a double portion of the anointing.

In order to fully move into the new thing God has been declaring over the body of Christ since entering this New era, we must forget the things of the past and build on His foundation.

Just a guy on a journey,

Rus
