Book Review: On The Edge of Hope

Title/Author: On The Edge of Hope – Mark Chironna (2022)

Description: When our once-solid worlds suddenly shift and heave, we find ourselves desperately trying to hold it all together. We suffer silently, ashamed of our struggles with things like anxiety, depression, and sleeplessness – after all, everyone else seems to be fine. Mark Chironna openly shares what he learned in his own three-year battle with darkness.

When Your Belief System Fails

For too long believers have hidden behind belief systems, which many times short circuit complete healing. That’s what makes this a stand out book. I applaud Mark Chironna for his open honesty saying he came to a place where he had to deal with the fact that his belief system, was hindering his healing. At one point he writes how he tried everything he told others to do when faced with anxiety, fear, depression and more. But, no matter how many times he rebuked the spirits, nothing helped and his situation did not change.

The mystics refer to these times as the dark night of the soul. God is trying to work in us His good work, but we spend more time avoiding the real issues God wants to deal with. Instead of discovering God’s deep love for us, many move into what some refer to as charis-magic in a desire to be set free.

No matter what you’re facing, God wants to move us from Living on the Edge of Hope, to Living in a Place of Hope. If your world is shifting and you find yourself On The Edge of Hope, this book will encourage you to move firmly into a place of hope, when your belief system is telling you something different.
